Agreements have been made with Affco and Fonterra who were previously appealing to council over the planned development. With these two parties now placated the developer Perry Group will apply for resource consent with a view to breaking ground mid-2021.
The Te Awa Lakes development will create 860 medium-density homes on a 62ha site to the north of Hamilton. The project’s website says that it will “transform this northern gateway into a vibrant community hub and tourism destination through a mix of high quality medium density residential housing, river links, tourism activities and adventure park.”
More information can be found on the Te Awa Lakes website here.
